New Dark Crystal Cores and Gems

The surprising release of new Dark Crystal Cores and Gems breathed some life back into our previously dormant Guild Adventure Hall.

The Surprise Blitz Dungeon, a Guild Adventure Hall released for 48 hours only starting on Wednesday, May 8th, came with the release of three new Dark Cores and twelve new Dark Gems (three of which are Paragon Gems). It’s not known if this will be a permanent fixture or not yet, but the hall was re-released on Monday, May 13th, for a 24 hour event period.

Drops from the Surprise Blitz Dungeon included more contracts and chests with dark resources (some to use yourself and some to gift to guildees), as well as chests containing Dark Gems and Dark Crystal Cores. To kick off the release players were gifted special contracts from Luna, and a Dungeon-specific event that rotated every six hours.  In order to complete all three tiers of the event players needed to run the Dungeon a minimum of six times per event rotation, which truthfully was a tall order as each run required ten contracts.

Completion of the Dungeon was achievable either by running together in large groups or by the purchase of seven level 10 Dungeoneer’s Attack Gems (each of which granted a whopping 455892% Physical Damage Bonus in the Guild Adventurer’s Hall).

Just as with all gems, combining is done through the Armory.  It’s not advised to combine all to the maximum level until you have sufficient surplus, as four gems of a lower level added together actually equate to better boosts overall compared to one gem of a higher level.

The new gems are grouped into three sets focused on city attack (Incursion, Ravager, Marauder, and Conqueror), city defense (Bulwark, Staunch, Stout, and Tenacious), and crystal play (Conquest, Journeyman, Adventurers, and Dominator).

When initially released, the new gems were all octagons in shape instead of circles and triangles as previous gems had been.  After an update on Friday, May 10th some of the non-Paragon Gems became circles and all of the Paragon Gems remained octagons.

I, for one, find this new shape a little bit confusing so I wanted to highlight that Conqueror, Tenacious and Dominator are all Paragon Gems, even though they have the same shape as some of the non-Paragon Gems.

The charts below show a summary of each of these twelve new gems.  Level 6 is currently the maximum level available. Special thanks to Jorel from Forgotten 937 and Spite148 from Solheim 259 for their help in collecting the majority of the data for these charts.

Surprise Blitz Dungeon Crystal Cores

In addition, three new Dark Crystal Cores were introduced (Incursion, Bulwark, and Conquest).  These can be accessed through the Crystal Nexus and combined to higher levels through the Armory.  All three of these new Crystal Cores have a four-hour duration and a thirty minute cooldown period between uses.

The below chart shows a summary of the boosts and stats for each Crystal Core but these are also visible at any time through the Crystal Nexus, even if you don’t have that level of Crystal Core unlocked yet.

Thoughts on the Surprise Blitz Dungeon

Completion of the Surprise Blitz Dungeon and its corresponding event were definitely a grind, but I personally hope it returns soon as it was a great way to get players to work together and to make use of the Guild Adventurer’s Hall, which has not seen this much activity since the days of the Bomb Blitz and Phantasmal Halls.

We don’t know if these Dark Gems and Dark Crystal Cores will be attainable by any other method, so it’s a shame the Dungeon was only accessible for a brief 48 hours.

What did you think of the Surprise Blitz Dungeon and the new Dark Gems and Dark Crystal Cores? Were you able to reap some good benefits from it while it was available? Are you feeling a little shocked by the low boost values that we’ve been seeing thus far since the Dark World reset?

The Surprise Blitz run is a good way to gain dark rss and gems… but at a fairly steep price. 10 contracts is far too many for a hall run.

It would be appreciated if the Luna chests were to rarely offer them once in a while for players who scarcely buy packs, giving them a chance to at least participate in the run once for free. Those who receive contracts as a reward tend to trade them for more contracts since it does take 6 runs to complete the event.

For the new gems, it’s a lot of new info to look up and remember, but in time it should be easier to pinpoint what gem does what. It would be extremely convenient though if they did make the dark gems a different cut (emerald shape was good! Should be like that for all!) for it to standout amongst all the other obsolete gems. Or… categorize them separately from all the other gems.

Thank you for the info! 🤩

I prefer playing solo, run a guild of 6 bases, all managed by me alone, my main cit. is 108 as well as 5 bases in Mobile Strike. Even with all legendary Warren Knight I found the Suprise Blitz event too hard and not enough contracts being gifted. Sort of blows the ‘free to play’ concept out of the window
