The story of Halloween dates back to over 2,000 years ago. November 1st marked the end of summer, the harvest, and the beginning of a dark, cold winter. A time of year that was frequently associated with death. The ancient Celts hosted a Celtic festival of Samhain to celebrate their new year.Â
Celts believed that the barrier between the living and the dead worlds became blurred on the night before the new year. On the night of October 31st, they celebrated Samhain when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.
It was believed that the presence of the supernatural spirits made it easier for the Druids (Celtic priests) to make predictions of the future. These prophecies were an influential source of comfort during the long, dark winter for the people who entirely depended on the volatile natural world.
The Druids would build massive sacred bonfires to celebrate the occasion, where the people would come together to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities. They would also wear costumes, typically animal heads and skins, to tell each other’s fortunes as part of the celebration.
When the celebration was over, they would return home to relight the fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the upcoming winter.Â
Halloween is approaching, ghouls and spirits are making their way into Eos for a Royal Halloween Celebration!Â
There is a three-week event where we can collect candy and boost our rewards in upcoming events. Let’s break it all down and make the most of it!
Halloween Event Start Time
Event Start
October 19th
5 pm PDT, 7 pm CST
October 20th
10:30 ACDT, 12 am (0:00) UTC, 9am KSTÂ
The event will run until November 9th PST/November 10th UTC.
Note: Daylight Savings Time will end November 7th PDT/November 8th UTC, after which events will change to a start time of 4 pm PST/0:00 UTC (one hour earlier for those affected by Daylight Savings Time).Â
How it Works
The Campaign will be updated weekly, like every other Campaign.Â
Collect Royal Halloween Celebration Silver Tokens various events throughout the week and from the Gold Store to progress in the Daily Events.Â
You’ll need to collect Royal Halloween Celebration Gold Tokens from the Daily Events to progress in the Weekly Events.Â
You can also earn Glaring Lantern II Tokens from PvP events, which will give you additional boosts, similar to what the Flag of Conqueror Tokens does. You can boost your token rewards up to 60%!
During the first week, the Flag of Conqueror Tokens will take the place of the Lanterns since you’ll be earning them this week. After that, the Glaring Lanterns will go into effect in week two. They will be required to boost the Campaign Token Rewards in week three.Â
Seven Deadly Sins
There will be a Daily Event during the Royal Halloween Celebration, with seven deadly sins (candy). The items can ONLY be earned by participating in events.Â
The Sins drop during each event will give you an advantage in ANOTHER event. So it is vital to ensure you participate in events to collect them. Specific Sins can only be acquired through their associated events.Â
The Sins will increase their corresponding event rewards by 10% for every 10,000 Sins collected, maxing at 60%! All of the events that reward Sins will end by 4 pm PT/23:00 UTC the following week and recur during weeks two and three of the Campaign.Â
We will break them down by colors, which event to get them from, and which event they are used for. Make sure to check out the chart towards the end of the guide!
