Secrets of Astrals, Mounts, and Kings of Lucis

Discover the everlasting secrets from some of the more important features in your Citadel. Each Astral, Mount, and King of Lucis has the potential for more than just increasing your combat stats. Whether it’s increasing the drops in the Guild Adventure Hall or reducing the cost of training troops, you’ll find these extra benefits here.

For more extras like this, check out Hero Secrets and Dark Hero Secrets.

To make this guide useful for all server timelines, you might find some of the stats to be outdated. Yet some players will see that many stats are beyond what they are currently using. With that said, each timeline can use the levels posted to see where they stand. This could also help younger servers plan for the future to see which features will be the most important to focus on.

Updated August 2021

This update includes the Astral levels 501-700 for Ifrit, Leviathan, Ramuh, as well as the Blue and Green Jabberwocks, Flexitusk, and Coeurl Mounts. Corrupted Altars and the Anti-Verstael Mirror Hero research have also been added.

Updated March 2021

Royal Summons Research is here and you can find this update at the bottom of this guide after the Summons Secrets!

Helpful Hints

If you’re wondering what some of these boosts mean, it’s not a secret anymore! Here are a few descriptions of what they mean:

Efficiency and Speed – The formula is Original Cost/(1+Efficiency or Speed) = Your Cost.

100% Efficiency or Speed ends up as a 50% reduction in cost.

Persistent – Persistent boosts apply at all times, even if that feature isn’t active. Examples of persistent boosts are Mastery Skills, “Powers of” skills, Tutelage, and more.

Passive – Passive boosts apply with no work on your part. No need to add to a march or activate anything beyond unlocking or leveling. Examples of passive boosts are Kings of Lucis and items in the Oracle Temple.

Astral Secrets

Astral Secret

The Astral Shrine is where you can find all the Astrals under your command. As you level up the building, you also gain a +1 to your Astral March Size. You can also add two more in Astrals research at the University, as well as buy a couple of extra in pack purchases.

If you haven’t already unlocked Multi-Astral Defense through Astrals research or Luna’s Mastery Skills, then you will find it at Astral Shrine level 9. Multi-Astral Defense is a game-changer and allows you to use all the Astral’s skills on defense as long as they are in your empire!

Once you get to levels 10+ you’ll get boosts as it is leveled up as an Auxiliary building.

**SECRET TIP: The higher your Astral level, the faster their HP will regenerate.**

What to Look For

Astral skills are mostly combat-related but you will find more than just a straight-out stat increase. Here are some of the unique skills that will help you out:

  • As Mirror Hero Troops are released there will be corresponding skills in each Astral’s trees to increase some of the Mirrors’ stats.
  • The Astrals Shiva, Leviathan, and Ifrit were released before the Dark World and have skills for Dark Infusion Strength which will help them with the assimilation of Dark World stats as their pre-dark strength just won’t cut it.
  • Multipliers will increase all of those stats by a percentage, so don’t skip out on these evergreen boosts! 100% more of an attack boost is going to do you good whether your attack is at 500M% or 50KT%.
  • Specialties are multipliers that apply in a particular combat scenario, like Crystal battles as opposed to City Assault.

Astral ShrineAstral Shrine: Levels 1-8 were used to give you additional Astrals and level 9 unlocked Multi-Astral Defense. All future levels of the Astral Shrine provide boosts as an Auxiliary Building.

Power of Astrals: This is another persistent skill tree like Mastery Skills or Power of Kings. These boosts will apply even if the Astral isn’t present during combat. In these skills trees, you will find combat boosts including the Astral Limit Breaks. The Power of Astrals skills is only used for Shiva, Titan, Ramuh, and Bahamut.

Power of Astrals

Corrupted Altars

Ifrit, Leviathan, Ramuh, and Shiva each had a corresponding Corrupted Altar with their level 700 release. Increasing the Corruption Cleansing Attack boost will increase your kills against those PvE Cities. Check out the Corrupted Altars guide to get more information.

Mount Secrets

Mount Secrets

Similar to Astrals, Mounts can be sent along in a march. Although unlike Astrals, the current march capacity for Mounts is one. Since you can only have one Mount active at a time, that also means you can only have one march with a Mount added and that will leave your empire without a Mount to defend against incoming attacks.

  • Endurance helps boost the Mount’s Attack only while defending.
  • Strength helps boost the Mount’s Attack only while attacking.
  • Rank determines the overall combat effectiveness.

Royal StablesRoyal Stables: Levels 1-3 were only for adding the first three Mounts, while the additional levels turned this building into an Auxiliary Building which provides extra boosts to your Mounts.

Kings of Lucis Secrets

Inside the Conclave of Lucis, you will find the Kings of Lucis. These are the spirits of the ancient Lucian Kings which will provide your troops with passive boosts.

  • Summoning Power: Each Lucian King’s Summoning Power provides your troops with increased attack and health benefits. *This works similar to a troop stat multiplier.* You will also get an extra 5% increase in Summoning Power when acting in defense!
    • One of the best ways to increase the Kings of Lucis Summoning Power is to use the Verstael Mirror Hero in battle. Although, with the release of Royal Realm Research there is a new boost to reduce the effectiveness of these Mirror Heroes. Punishing The Kings of Lucis has Enemy Mirror Hero Verstael Kings of Lucis Cripple Summoning Power of up to 100,000%. So, make sure you get that research in!
  • Kings of Lucis are not added to a march, but the skills and boosts will still apply in battles that take place outside of your empire.

If you are reading this because the Conclave of Lucis and Somnus were just released, don’t forget to do the King of Lucis Guild Research for even more boosts!

ConclaveConclave of Lucis: This building only has one level and each King of Lucis is unlocked with their own unlock tokens.

Tutelage: As of now, the only King of Lucis who has a secondary skill tree is The Wise. As more get increased levels, there’s sure to be more persistent skill trees added to the other Kings. Will they also be called Tutelage? Only time will reveal that secret.

Levels 51-100:
  • The first King of Lucis to have a second skill tree. The Wise Tutelage is a persistent boost that applies no matter which King of Lucis you have active.
The Wise Tutelage:
  • Dark Elemental Cost Efficiency – Level 4 Dark Essence Promotion Cost Efficiency up to 100%.
  • ***Skill points can be added to any node with no prerequisites, so you can max out any skill at any time. Or you can spread out your skill points to maximize the range of your boosts.***

The Conqueror, Champion of Chaos

Levels 1-50:
  • A Conqueror for the Ages – Dark Neutral City Assault March Speed up to 200%. Useful when you NEED to get to the cities faster than ever!

*NEW* Royal Summons Research

Royal Dark stats have been introduced to all of the Summons in FFXV: ANE. Astrals, Kings of Lucis, and Mounts each have their section in the new research tree. Since each column in the new research tab is split, you don’t need to have any cross research completed before diving further down the research tree. At least, until you reach the very last node “Summons Synergy”. You do, however, need to complete a node before moving on to the next one in each column.

Left Column – Kings of Lucis

Every King of Lucis will benefit from this research, which spans boosts for Dark Troops to Cripple Enemy Summoning Power, and even increases to the different troop types’ March Size and Rally Capacity.

Middle Column – Astrals

Similar to the Kings of Lucis column, the boosts provided here increase stats for all the Astrals, separately as well as together. As you move down to the bottom of the column, you’ll encounter nodes with Synergy which just means that BOTH of those features will have to be present in combat for that skill to apply. There are even more March Size and Rally Capacity nodes found at the bottom of this column.

Pay attention to each Astral-specific boost as they are not all the same and this could mean a balance in the Astral’s power or that a new one will reign supreme. Or, it could mean the same Astral(s) are the powerhouses still.

Right Column – Mounts

Naturally, Mounts are a little bit different when it comes to their boosts. These nodes also have the Dark Troop stats, but also include the Mount’s Strength and Endurance which benefit your combat ability in offense and defense respectively. Cerberus is the only Mount that has its research boosts. There are also March Size and Rally Capacity boosts at the bottom of this column.

Summons Synergy Node

Wrapping it all up at the bottom is a node Summons Synergy which requires you to unlock each node in the Kings, Astrals, and Mounts columns before you can research the first level. This will increase each Summons’ Royal Dark Attack as well as Royal Dark Troop Attack for the Kings and Mounts, ending with even more Kings of Lucis Summoning Power.
