Royal Dark VIP
VIP = Very Important Person
Synonyms for VIP are:
Notable
Celebrity
Superstar
Worthy
VIP is extremely rare and usually only available in packs. By the time you can get your hands on it for free, it may not be as elite as it was when released. Don’t let that stop you from trying to level up your VIP, however, since many benefits remain forever helpful.
This guide will go into detail on what each aspect of VIP does and there is even a chart so you can see just how much Royal Dark VIP you need and what boosts you will gain from each level.
Previous VIP guides:
- Super VIP
- Dark VIP
- (Chaotic VIP is included in Dark VIP)
- Mythic VIP
Performance Enhancers
VIP is like the cherry on top when it comes to getting the most out of almost every feature in FFXV: ANE. Even the Guild Adventure Hall, which has no obvious boost in VIP, is made easier since you can use a Gear Preset to quickly change gear and jump into a hall with your guild members. VIP Remove Points is nice when you need to change skills in a Hero (or even an Astral, Mount, or King of Lucis) since you can remove points from one node and add them to another.
VIP gives much more than just combat ability!
Hidden Stats
Unfortunately, I found no hidden stats that weren’t upgraded in at least the first 10 levels of Royal Dark VIP. None of the previous benefits were upgraded AT ALL! Each item in the list is a completely new stat that is boosted with Dark Royal VIP.
Nevertheless, I will continue to search through the list every time VIP is increased and I hope that this section gets updated with some hidden gems. I refuse to believe that the newest Royal Dark Troop stats that were introduced with Mythic VIP 320 are going to remain stagnant as we receive more VIP levels.
Decoding VIP Boosts
****Skill Trees benefits****
(Hero Skills, Mastery Skills, Astrals, Mounts, Kings of Lucis,
Power of Kings/Queens/Veterans/Challengers)
VIP Add Points –
Allows you to add more than one point to a single skill node at a time. This only works if you can level that node more than once, but you also need to have enough points to do so.
VIP Remove Points –
This allows you to remove skill points from a single node without needing to use a Reset and re-skilling the whole tree.
****Other Benefits****
Cost Efficiency –
Reduces the cost of that particular RSS.
The formula is Original Cost/(1+Efficiency) = Your Cost.
100% Efficiency ends up as a 50% reduction in cost.
Preset Unlocks –
Allows you to create quick buttons for different Gear setups.
Some good Presets to have on a hero:
- Monster Gear
- Dungeon Gear
- Offensive Combat
- Defensive Combat
There are some bonus preset ideas at the bottom of the article.
Royal Dark Troop Stats –
Recently there was the release of Royal Dark Troop stats, which is an effort to make numbers a little easier to handle. 1% Royal Dark is equal to 1T% Dark. Since we know that letters don’t belong with numbers unless you’re in high school Algebra, it’s nice to get away from the KT numbers.
56KT% – 56,000,000,000,000,000%
Or
56,000% Royal
VIP 321-330
It looks like Royal Dark boosts are going to slowly replace the original Dark types, as this level removes Dark Troop stats and adds the Royal variety, as well as adding Royal Dark Trap Attack, Royal Dark Trap HP, and Royal Dark Trap Armor.
Since Royal Dark VIP and Kingsglaive Prompto were released at the same time, we get to utilize his Gear Preset Unlocks a lot sooner than usual. There are also Cost Efficiencies for his Hero Medals and even Copious Building Blueprints.
Surprisingly, the Astral Attack Bonuses are not increased with this level, although Hundlegs gets a whopping 4KT% boost!

VIP 331-340
With this update, the Royal Dark stats for some of your troops get a significant boost right off the bat. With these boosts, even the first level of VIP is going to make your troops extra beefy.
Unlike previous VIP levels, there are only three Astrals who get stats increases this time. These three Astrals are the ones that were most recently updated: Ramuh, Leviathan, and Shiva, with a whopping 20KT% Attack! But also you will see efficiency reductions for their level 7 Sigils, so if you haven’t maxed them out yet, you should wait until after you have leveled up your VIP a bit.
One of the most important aspects of these VIP levels are the other efficiency boosts for T4 RSS and Luminous Speeds as well as T5 RSS and Opulent Speeds. These will make your Fishing for these important items a lot less work!
It’s nice to see that hero Gear Preset unlocks are becoming available a bit sooner after a new hero release since it makes swapping between your different gear a lot more convenient.

VIP 341-350
Move over Dark Troop stats, it seems like Royal Dark Troop stats are taking over! Since we’ve seemingly transitioned all the way into Royal Dark, you won’t find any of the previous stats in this VIP update.
With the last update, there were only three Astrals that had any increases to their Attack Bonus. This time, however, there are NONE. Instead, the newest Mounts are hogging all of the stats.
There is only one level that offers any extra QoL improvements, and that is VIP 344 with Add/Remove Skill Points for both the Red and Blue Kingatrice Mounts. Kingsglaive Gladio has up to 5 Gear Preset unlocks, which you will find in the first half of the chart.
If you’re searching for cost reductions, then you will be happy to see that T4 Monsters get efficiencies in their Tomes costs for research as well as reductions in training speed and RSS requirements. The last level of VIP gives you a significant efficiency boost to Citadel level 311-320 blueprints, too!
Are these the last levels of Dark Royal VIP, or do you think there are more to come? This is the question that many players wonder when they see VIP in the Moogle Market. Is it worth the risk to buy it out if it changes? A lot of players don’t like to take these chances, as the costs for future levels could be too high, but one never really knows.

How to Use VIP Effectively
Unlocking each hero’s Gear Presets will allow you to effortlessly switch from your Dungeon gear to your Defensive gear with a click of a few buttons. You need to make sure you have your presets filled and kept up to date, so you’re not caught off guard.
If you’re wondering whether you should grab a few extra levels of VIP or Hero Medals (whether it’s from the Gold Store or the Moogle Market), check to see if the unlocked levels of VIP will have the Hero Medal efficiencies, which could make it the better buy. Since you’ll also unlock all the combat boosts and other features from VIP, it could prove worthwhile. Besides, medals are found in events all the time and VIP points are precious commodities.
Is Royal Dark VIP Worth It?
Whether you are an aggressive attacker or maintaining a trap empire, VIP is an essential part of your gameplay. Especially when you are trying to strengthen your defenses without adding unnecessary numbers to your power.
The trick to VIP is to unlock it while the boosts are hot! You won’t need the Lv 1 Sigil efficiency if you’ve already maxed that level out. But what doesn’t ever expire are the extra convenience features like Gem Removal. Remember when we would have to use a Gem Removal Tool or even BREAK GEMS to add a better gem? VIP is what gives us those little extras to make life just a little easier.
BONUS IDEAS for Gear Presets
Now that you have +7 Preset Unlocks, plus whatever you may have bought in a pack, you can expand on these types of presets.
Monster Gear can be sorted into:
- Max MP
- MP Recovery
- Max Streak
- Hero Attack
Level up your heroes using Max MP gear, and let your heroes sit idle with MP Recovery gear. Attack a monster with your Max Streak gear and then deal the killing blow with the best Hero Attack gear if you need to slay those beasts!
The same applies to different types of combat, as well. If you are a rally leader, you might have different gear for when you’re flying solo.
Even Crystal combat might need different gear for attacking and holding, depending on which troops you use for each situation.
If you’re in defense mode, different presets could help you maintain your edge on the competition, after all, sometimes defending is a game of numbers.
- High Attack: for when you need to kill more of the attacking troops.
- High HP/Armor and Attack Resistance: for when you need to lose fewer troops to fit into your hospital capacity.
Here is a Trap Guide if you would like to find out more. Be sure to check out Part 2!
Testing!!!! If you’re testing out different gear, using multiple presets will help you switch without needing to scroll through every piece in your inventory.
I just listed at least 15 ways to use your Gear Presets, which ones do you use?
