In Final Fantasy: A New Empire, MP has been our liquid gold since day one and remains one of the most valuable content we have today. In this stage in the game, we need as much as we can accumulate to justify the Realm Boss and PvE Moogle Market events.
As we do not have our former Realm Boss MP per hit requirements since the pre-dark world, we are cautious and preserve our MP for the appropriate events that help us the most. Lately, it has been the PvE Monster and Moogle Market events since we can choose the content we need that suits our gameplay. This has made it essential for us to stockpile through events, Hero Magitek Chests, and the Gold Store.
In this guide, we will cover:
- Dark Monster Slayer Gear pieces
- Gear Set Bonus, Upgrading, Powering Up, and Gear Set leveling along with CHARTS!
- Comparing and breaking down Dark Monster Slayer to Monster Stalker
- Dark Monster Slayer and Monster Stalker MP Bar differences from players in our community!
- Which pieces should you upgrade or focus on Powering Up?
- Guides to reference after reading the Dark Monster Stalker Gear Set
- How to join our FFXVANE: Hub Line Group and our Discord Channel
First things first, let’s break down the Dark Monster Slayer Gear pieces one by one!
Dark Monster Slayer Gear Pieces
Over time, the Monsters, and Realm Bosses have gotten stronger and now require more MP to deplete, we try our best to keep up with it for our benefit. Check out the Gear pieces as we break them down.
Like the last several Gear sets, all the pieces have associated benefits that accumulate to a remarkable boost and advantages.
Dark Monster Slayer Gear Boost PER piece
*stats are Legendary (Gold – 6) PER gear piece
- 140M Max MP
- 3.15B% MP Recovery
Dark Monster Slayer’s Helmet
The Helmet focuses on Critical Hit.
Dark Monster Slayer’s Helmet:
*stats maxed at Legendary level (Gold – 6)
- 10% Hero Critical Hit
Critical Hit is the amount of damage inflicted upon the Monster or Realm Boss. This will be beneficial to the new Ruthless Monsters, or events that require points for damage instead of the number of hits.
Dark Monster Slayer’s Body Armor
The Body Armor gears its attention to Hero Attack Streak.
Dark Monster Slayer’s Body Armor:
*stats maxed at Legendary level (Gold – 6)
- 4 Hero Attack Streak
Hero Attack Streak is similar to Critical Hit, increasing damage per hit. However, only as long as you do not switch Heroes or Monsters the next turn. If you need Hero or Gear EXP, then Hero Attack Streak is a great way to build up to accumulate EXP.
Dark Monster Slayer’s Footwear
The Boots provide additional Streaks to stack onto the amount you currently have.
Dark Monster Slayer’s Footwear:
*stats maxed at Legendary level (Gold – 6)
- 17 Additional Streak per Attack
Additional Streak per Attack allows you to increase the Hero Attack Streak in jumps of 17. This particular boost, as well as the Hero Attack Streak, will be especially vital with the new Monsters.
Example:
Veteran Gladiolus contains 43 Hero Attack Streaks.
Between Cores and other passive boosts, there are additionally 21
Giving you a total of 64 maxed Hero Attack Streak
Before gear piece, you hit a boss and gain 7 Hero Attack Streaks per hit.
After applying Footwear, hitting the Monster will instead increase to 24 per hit until you reach 64 expanding the damage per hit as long as the Hero is not swapped out and used.
*these numbers are at random and do not reflect real stats, this is purely an example to reflect how Additional Hero Streak per Attack works.
Dark Monster Slayer’s Weapon
The Weapon presents more Hero Attack (this only applies to Monsters, PvE Monsters, Realm Bosses, etc.)
Dark Monster Slayer’s Weapon:
*stats maxed at Legendary level (Gold – 6)
- 224K% Hero Attack
Dark Monster Slayer’s Accessory
The Accessory benefits your Kingsglaive Noctis Hero.
Dark Monster Slayer’s Accessory:
*stats maxed at Legendary level (Gold – 6)
- 100B% Kingsglaive Noctis MP Multiplier Bonus
*300B% Kingsglaive Noctis MP Multiplier Bonus when all three Accessories are applied
Gear Set Bonus
In the Mythic Forge, you will see a Set Gear Bonuses section (1st tab). A Set Bonus is activated as soon as you earn every Gear Piece in the Set required in the row. The bonus will be determined by the lowest level piece you own. For example, if you have one Epic piece and the rest are Uncommon, you will receive the Uncommon Set Bonus. Additionally, you do not have to wear the Gear for the bonus to be active, as it is passive.
To get the Gear Set Bonus, you must have one of each gear piece mentioned above and the three Accessories.
*stats are at maxed level (Legendary)
- 160K% Hero Attack
- 12 Additional Streak per Attack
- 2.25B% MP Recovery
- 10% Hero Critical Hit
- 100M Max MP
- 4 Hero Streak
When your Gear reaches level 3 (Green), your Gear Set Bonus will activate a Monster Assault Magitek Mech Loot Drop Doubler.
When your Gear reaches level 6 (Legendary), your Gear Set Bonus will activate a Monster Assault Magitek Airship Loot Drop Doubler.
EVERY piece must be at that level for it to be activated.
Monster Assault Magitek Mech and Airships aka Ruthless Monsters
The Monster Assault Magitek Mech and Airships will now be replacing the Garchimacera and the Havoc Fang Monsters.
NO MORE IGNIS DINER TELEPORTS!
ANY Hero may hit level one through six. Kingsglaive Noctis is the only Hero that can hit level twelve Monster. He must be at level 47, and the node Monster Tactics: Ruthless Monsters must be skilled.
Suppose you need any loyalty (YES LOYALTY IS BACK!), Resources, Speed Ups, Currency, etc. Then this is a way to accumulate on it, but it can be costly. Although, the nice thing is that for every Monster kill you or your guildmates achieve, every player in the guild will get an Alliance Gift! The higher the Monster, the better the Alliance Gift will be.
Be sure to check the MP/Alliance Gift chart below!
Now, this is where the Gear kicks in. If you have it to green (level 3), you will receive double the loot from your Magitek Mech Monsters, and Airships Monsters will acquire double the loot when your Gear reaches legendary (level 6).
Ruthless Monsters Set Up
Along with the new Dark Monster Stalker Gear, your Gems and Cores will become essential.
Not only is it imperative to get your Hero Attack Streak up, but this is where Hero Attack, Additional Streak per Attack, Lucky Kill, Hero Critical Hit, Critical Damage becomes useful for us again.

- Parago Witch’s Familiar Gem
- 15% Lucky Kill

- This Helmet has 60% Critical Hit while the new one contains 10%

- Gilgamesh
- PvE Destruction
Ruthless Monsters MP/Alliance Chest Chart
This chart represents the amount of MP you need per hit for the level and the alliance chest drops’ contents.
Now, let’s focus on reviewing the information about building up your Gear.
Upgrading, Powering Up, and Gear Set Leveling
Check the Mythic Forge to Upgrade, Power Up, in addition to leveling up your Gear benefits further.
Upgrading Chart/Sigils of Quality Chart
Use the Dark Monster Slayer Gear Set Sigil of Quality to upgrade the gear pieces individually from uncommon to gold. Several of the Gear sets lately required materials per level on top of the Sigils of Quality; this isn’t the case for this set.
Check out the chart below to see how much Sigils of Quality you need.
Powering Up/Power Up Chart
Use Dark Monster Slayer’s Gear Power Up Material after the pieces have reached its Legendary status to power up the gear pieces from level one to ten.
Check out the chart below to indicate how much you need per level.
Gear Set Leveling/Gear Set Level Chart
Last but not least, use Dark Monster Slayer’s Set Upgrade Material to level up the Gear Set Leveling.
Keep in mind when leveling Gear Set Leveling, you only need one of each item, even the Accessory.
Gear Set Bonus:
*stats are at maxed level 100
- 72 Additional Strak per Attack
- 54B% MP Recovery
- 60% Hero Critical Hit
- 2.4B Max MP
- 24 Hero Attack Streak
- 960K% Hero Attack
Check out the chart below to see how much EXP and Materials you need per level.
How does it Compare?
It all comes down to the fact, is this set worthy? Is it any more beneficial than the last Monster Gear Set? We will compare the Dark Monster Gear set with the previous released Elite Monster Stalker at Legendary levels and Rare/Epic Dark Monster Slayer Gear to Legendary Monster Stalker Gear.
Then afterward, I will break down the pieces and point out which ones you should reflect on upgrading if you are limited to your selections to prioritize based on your gameplay preferences.
Legendary Dark Monster Slayer vs. Legendary Monster Stalker
Since the Helmets contain the same benefits, we will use that to compare the stats.
Dark Monster Slayer Helmet:
*stats are at Legendary (Gold – 6)
- 10% Hero Critical Hit
- 140M MP
- 3.15B% MP Recovery
Monster Stalker Helmet:
*stats are at Legendary (Gold – 6)
- 60% Hero Critical Hit
- 84M MP
- 54,600% MP Recovery
While the Monster Stalker Helmet may contain more Hero Critical Hit than the Dark Monster Slayer Helmet, we can attest that the other two stats are much more worthwhile unless you are hitting the Ruthless Monsters.
With that in mind, let’s analyze the Helmet in Rare and Epic with the Legendary Monster Stalker Helmet and check out when it starts overpowering the other and putting it in another perspective.
Rare and Epic Dark Monster Slayer vs. Legendary Monster Stalker
Rare Dark Monster Slayer Helmet:
*stats are at Rare (Blue – 4)
- 4.4% Hero Critical Hit
- 61.6M MP
- 1.39B% MP Recovery
Epic Dark Monster Slayer Helmet:
*stats are at Epic (Purple – 5)
- 6.7% Hero Critical Hit
- 93.8M MP
- 2.11B MP Recovery
Legendary Monster Stalker Helmet:
*stats are at Legendary (Gold – 6)
- 60% Hero Critical Hit
- 84M MP
- 54,600% MP Recovery
Now, this is where the tricky part comes in, while the MP bar may not surpass until Dark Monster Stalker reaches Epic level, keep in mind that this is only per gear piece. So once you get Epic or Gold, then it has more MP if you are leveling Heroes. Mix and match, and do not forget to account with the Gear Set Bonus to make sure it does not take away from the MP bar if you are trying to make the most of your MP.
Additionally, the MP Recovery blows the other set out of the water, especially when you account for the Gear Set Bonus. So when you are letting your Heroes sit in the Order of the Heroes or activate them to accumulate MP, the MP Recovery would be an excellent option to take advantage of, particularly if you plan to be offline for a while overnight while you go to sleep.
MP Bar difference
A player has volunteered to show comparison with the MP Bars on the Dark Monster Slayer versus the Elite Monster Stalker Gear with Kingsglaive Noctis to show us the differences.
As we can see above, the MP bar with the new Gear starts to surpass it before it hits full Legendary along with the Gear Set Bonuses and Powering up yet to be completed.
Which pieces should I use/level first?
Typically I easily can state which pieces should be considered to level over the other based on your gameplay style. However, in this case, since all of the articles contain the same MP and MP Recovery, there isn’t much comment to make.
Unless you have Kingsglaive Noctis, then unquestionably build your Accessory pieces as they contain 100B% Kingsglaive Noctis MP Multiplier PER Accessory.
Otherwise, use and level your pieces as you please.
