In the Final Fantasy series, Sentinels are defensive specialists. They are known to provide interference, drawing the opponent toward themselves and then using their enhanced defense to depreciate damage.
In Final Fantasy: A New Empire, when your Hero reaches level 30, you can craft and equip the Sentinel Gear Set. The Sentinel Gear Set provides your Hero with plentiful Troop Armor and some Trap Attack specialties while increasing your ability to collect and loot more Resources, making it great for defense.
Sentinel Gear
Each Sentinel piece requires specific materials to forge, which can be done in the Armory, covered later in the guide. First, let’s break down the stats for each gear piece and indicate the materials they each need.

Crafting Materials
As you can see above, each piece needs Sentinel materials to craft; this can be done through the Armory.
The first tab, ‘Craft,’ will lead you to the crafting recipes section in the Armory, where you can choose whether you would like to craft a Helmet, Body Armor, Footwear, Weapon, or Accessories. Each Gear Set consists of seven pieces, one of each including three Accessories.
As an example in this guide, we will use the Sentinel’s Watch (Helmet).
Armory>Craft>Helmets
You will then scroll down until you see the Sentinel’s Watch.
Once you have located it, you will be able to view the stats, hero level requirement, Gil cost, and the materials you need to craft it.
The percentage bar above the stats shows you your chances of getting that quality from basic to legendary. The further to the right, the better.
- Black – Basic (Level 1)
- Grey – Common (Level 2)
- Green – Uncommon (Level 3)
- Blue – Rare (Level 4)
- Purple – Epic (Level 5)
- Gold – Legendary (Level 6)
You can also tap on the colors to see what the stats will look like at those levels.
Below the Gil cost, you can see what materials are needed to build the piece. The higher the quality, the better; sometimes, it is worth the wait, especially if you’re willing to grind for it.
Where can I find Sentinel Materials?
There are a few locations where you can gather Sentinel Materials.
In the Guild Store treasures section, Sentinel Chests are purchasable with 100,000 Loyalty.
There are also Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic Material Chests in the Guild Store; it does not guarantee Sentinel Materials, but there is a chance that you may.
You can also hit the Garula Monsters and loot the Garula Lair Tiles.
Aside from the materials, each piece will need 79,200 Gil, totaling 554,400 Gil, to craft seven pieces to create a set.
Combining Materials
There is a ‘Combine’ tab in your Armory that allows you to combine Gems and Materials.
Armory>Combine>Materials
To increase the quantities of your pieces, you will need to combine the materials. Each level requires four of the same type and quantity level to go to the next level.
For example, you will need four level two Bronze materials to forge one level three Bronze. Then four level threes to make one level four, etc.
To figure out the number of materials you need cumulatively to Legendary, multiply by the factor of four from the previous level.
Total of level one materials needed:
- 4 level one materials for Common
- 16 level one materials for Uncommon
- 64 level one materials for Rare
- 256 level one materials for Epic
- 1,024 level one materials for Legendary
