Guide to Ignis’ New Hero Levels (Up to 500)

In this guide, you will find all the new skills that Ignis obtains with his new hero levels. You’ll find just how far you need to go to get the best abilities to maximize your power with what you’ve got. All you need are Dark Level 2 Ignis Medals and you are on your way to crushing your enemies.

Happy Birthday, Ignis! This is an extremely awkward photo, but I guess I would look a bit upset if I realized I had to share my birthday cake with Prompto.

HBD!

Ignis Hero Skills

MP Multiplier goes up with Ignis’ new levels. That’s pretty good since we need so much more MP than ever before! Too bad the MP Recovery went down from the more recent hero level releases. But, my MP recovery is over a year at the moment, so hopefully, we will see improvement in this stat, and soon!

VIP 141 gives you free AP Removal, so get rid of those older skills if you need more points for the fresh ones.

Ignis Mastery Skills

Ignis Mirrors
Mirror Research

Mastery Skills are passive boosts that apply no matter which hero you have active. The only exceptions to this are Synergy and Mirror Hero boosts. Synergy requires that the other half of the Synergy is present, while Mirror Hero boosts require you to have at least one of the Mirror Hero troops present.

VIP 221 will let you remove Mastery Skill points if you need some extra points for your new skills. So, feel free to remove Mastery Skill points from older nodes to unlock your newer, more powerful abilities!

*Terms Defined

Sometimes there are terms that describe boosts that aren’t entirely clear. I’ll try to explain these following boost descriptions so you can have a better understanding of how these game mechanics work.

  • Efficiency: This isn’t an actual reduction. It increases your efficiency of using those materials (in this case, Imbued Dark Troops Research Tomes).
      • Actual cost = original cost/(1+efficiency)
  • Debuffs –
    • Attack Resistance: Reduces your enemy’s attack by an exact number.
    • Cripple HP: Reduces your enemy’s HP by an exact number.
    • Armor Piercing: Reduces your enemy’s armor by an exact number.
  • Synergy: Only applies when the other part of the Synergy is present.
    • In this case, it needs both Bahamut and Ifrit active in battle for this Synergy to be activated.

Mathematical Genius

Let’s add up some of the basic stats that a max Ignis provides, so you can better compare this release to any others.

Dark Core Troop

  • Attack: 100B% (Dark Siege: 500B% total)
  • HP: 40B% (Dark Siege: 140B% total)
  • Armor 100B% (Dark Siege: 500B% total)

Dark Mercenary Troop

  • Attack: 200B% (Dark Airship: 800B% total)
  • HP: 30B% (Dark Airship: 100B% total)
  • Armor: 90B% (Dark Airship: 290B% total

Dark Elemental Troop

  • Attack: 180B% (Dark Fire: 1.58T% total)
  • HP: 30B% (Dark Fire: 440B% total)
  • Armor: 90B% (Dark Fire: 540B% total)

Astral Attack: 90B% (Dark Ifrit 390B% total)

Mount Attack: 800B% (Lucky Chocobo 1.8T% total)

These are incredible stats, in my opinion. Dark Fire and a Lucky Chocobo… look out defenders! This isn’t even including the Dark City Assault, Synergy, and Mirror Troop bonuses.

Slumming in the Dungeon

The Guild Adventure Hall is a vital aspect of FFXV: ANE. In it, we can get gear, gems, resources, and even hero unlocks! With this, you need all the power you can get to defeat all the monsters coming your way. Unfortunately, Ignis isn’t it, even with his new Dark Dungeon Bonus. As his second Dungeon Physical Attack is only at 900,000%. The first one has a 1.5M% attack. Comparing him to Veteran Prompto and from what I’ve heard, Iris, he falls short. But, if he’s the only hero you have with a third ability in the Dungeon, 2.4M% (total) is better than nothing!

Battle Ready Warrior

Party time!

As you can see, Ignis is going to benefit in almost any battle situation. Especially on offensive attacks, with his Dark City Assault, Fire Troops, Ifrit, and Dark Airship boosts. When you combine all these, your victim’s Dark Guardians will perish at the push of a button. But, let’s not count him out when it comes to defensive measures. He has both a Mastery and a Hero Skill for an added 250 billion Maximum Trap Count each. When he is active, both skills will apply to give you up to a 500 billion trap count. Are in-wall traps effective in defense, now? I haven’t tested it, yet, but when I do I will add it to my Guide to Trapping article.

One thing I am confused about, however, is the Siege Engine skills… Do we see more Siege Engine troops in our future? The last time we had them was Dark T6 troops, and here we are at Dark T12. Will these be the wall busters of the future? I guess we will find out…

Is Ignis Right for You?

From what I’ve seen Ignis improves offensive attacks pretty well. A high-leveled Ignis with his Mirror Hero troops, Ifrit, Bahamut, and a Lucky Chocobo is sure to smash through any opponent with ease. I mean, a 1T% attack bonus on a Lucky Chocobo alone is pretty spectacular. Then you get to add all the boosts that the Astrals add to the mix and you’re sitting pretty with burning empires surrounding you. Make sure you bring marshmallows!
