Umbra Guide to 200
Luna’s dog, Umbra gets an update and the boosts from his skills are spectacular. His skills give huge increases in stats and improve many of the Mirror Heroes we use.
As a messenger between Luna and Noctis, Umbra possesses powers of his own.
“Being one of the Oracle’s twenty-four Messengers has its perks, circumventing time-space notwithstanding.”
-Ignis Scientia in Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition
Umbra Hero Skills
Just like every other hero, Umbra’s Hero Skills start off with everyday monster-hunting skills. One skill that is significantly increased is MP Recovery at a whopping 180M%! Could this be a permanent addition to every hero from here on out? I hope so, with a new Realm Boss every week, it would be lovely to have the extra MP waiting around on all the heroes.
When it comes to combat skills, Umbra has what it takes to greatly improve your battle outcomes. We started seeing skills go up to the KT numbers with the release of Crowe, but that was with her combined stats. Now we are seeing it in individual skill nodes.

Umbra Mastery Skills
For the most part, the following skills are a bit better than the Hero Skills of the same type. A few are the same, and one has lower stats, Dark Troop Boost I. The boosts are significant enough to want to level Umbra up, even if you prefer another hero.
Special skills found in the Mastery Tree are debuffs to Mounts and Dark Elementals, Troop March speed boosts, and meaningful increases to many Mirror Heroes.

Power of the Wild
There is a new type of hero skills that was released with Umbra’s new levels. These passive skills work in the same way that Power of Kings, Power of Queens, etc. (do we see a theme here?) The Power of the Wild skills are available for Umbra, Pryna, and Carbuncle. AlyKat will have an article with more details coming soon.
Dungeon Abilities

If you add up both of Umbra’s Dark Dungeon Bonus abilities, it comes out to an impressive 6M% Physical Damage Bonus, which is the second-highest after Prompto’s 6.5M%. However, this doesn’t mean much when you consider that his third ability’s base attack is only 1,500. This makes him hit for less than one-third of the damage as Prompto. To get a better understanding of how important a hero’s base attack is, let’s consider Iris in the Guild Adventure Hall. Her third ability has a base attack of 5,000, and her total Dungeon Dark Bonus is at 3.5M% (for now), and she hits harder than even Prompto! One bonus that Umbra offers is the fact that he heals up to 20 players that are running with you. So for harder halls, this could come in handy to keep all the heavy hitters alive and pushing you all through.
Umbra Heroic and Mythic Medals Chart
As far as I can tell, Umbra follows the pattern of Veteran Ignis when it comes to medal requirements. I’ve filled in the chart using those values. If I find that this is incorrect, I will change it. Yay for patterns!

Is Umbra Right For You?
If you have the chance to grab Umbra’s Heroic and Mythic Medals, I would recommend you do it. Mirror Heroes play an important role when it comes to winning battles. Since Umbra’s Mastery Skills give most of our Mirrors a major update, it will greatly improve your combat ability. Equally important are the Troop Supply boosts, especially for Core Troop Supplies, since they are the most effective type right now. Also, the KT stats numbers don’t hurt at all.
