Flan & Monster Farm

Among the very first monsters to roam Eoa was a big blue blob called a Flan. Now our gelatinous friends are back and available at the Monster Farm. But what types of flans are there and what benefits do they bring us?

This article will explain how to obtain the Flan in the Monster Farm and compare different quality of Flans you can hatch.

Unlocking Flan in Monster Farm

Like other monsters, the Flan must be active in the Monster Farm in order to use it. Only a march with your hero will have the benefits of the Flan you have active.

In order to use Flan type monsters in your Monster Farm, you must upgrade the building to level 8. Upgrading the Monster Farm from level 7 to 8 requires 3,200 Blueprints. Luckily, Monster Farm Blueprints are easier to come by than ever.

Monster Farm Blueprints can be obtained from the Forgotten archives and the adventurer Guild Hall, from the special Monster Farm dungeon in Proving Grounds, and in certain packs. To get those packs, click on the upgrade in Monster Farm, click “Monster Farm Blueprints” that appears in red text, then click Get More.

Uses for Flan

Activating a Flan monster in the Monster Farm boosts City Assault Attack and Attack Resistance. While the Attack Resistance bonus will provide your troops with additional defense by decreasing the effectiveness of your opponent’s attack, the City Assault Attack bonus only goes into effect when attacking another empire, as the name implies.

The are several situations where City Assault Attack and Attack Resistance work really well together. First, using a Flan monster to attack opposing empires during RvR will allow you to rack up more troop kills while protecting your own troops. This will get you and your guild more points per hit, as well as giving the opposing realm less points per kill.

If you are using your mercenaries to attack an empire, the Flan will give them an added attack boost while keeping more of them alive after each battle. This works especially well with Toad Rider mercenaries, who get an additional +1,000% Attack & HP bonus when attacking empires.

Another use for the Flan monster is when attacking an enemy empire that is around the same power level as your empire. The Flan’s Attack Resistance boost is especially effective when there is a chance that your hero might be captured.

Conclusion

Is the Flan worth upgrading to Monster Farm level 8 in order to use? That all depends on what type of Flan you hatch. If you win the Flan Monster Hunt event and score yourself a Legendary or Epic Flan Egg, then it is absolutely worth upgrading your Monster Farm so that you can activate your Flan monster.

If you have a Rare Flan Egg or common Flan Egg, then you will want to take a closer look through your Monster Farm to see whether the boosts that your Flan gives you are better or worse than any of the monsters you already have unlocked.

If you hatched a Cobalt Flan but already have an Iron Giant active in your Monster Farm, for example, then it’s not worth upgrading your Monster Farm just yet, since your Cobalt Flan only gives +100% City Assault Attack and +30 Attack Resistance whereas Iron Giant gives +75% Troop Attack, +75% Attack Resistance & +75% Juggernaut Attack. Even if you’re not using Juggernaut mercenaries, the +40% Attack Resistance is more than a fair trade off for losing +25% Troop Attack.
